In October 2023,
18 pupils from Maplewell Hall school will be going on expedition to Thailand.
During the 11 days the pupils will be volunteering on an elephant sanctuary in Phang Nga.
They will be feeding and bathing the elephants as well as clearing the enclosures of droppings.
The work there will also include updating their facilities by helping to hard core the roadways and supporting at the nearby veterinary hospital.
Students have been raising money and awareness for the Sanctuary for the last 18 months by holding fundraising events, raffles and cake sales to pay for their expedition, led by Venture force, a Melton Mowbray based adventure company.
This will be by far the most rewarding but extreme and stretching experience the pupils have undertaken and will take lots of hard work and dedication taking all of the pupils well out of their comfort zone.
