Children and the Court System

Children are sometimes required to give evidence in criminal courts, either for crimes committed against them or for crimes they have witnessed.

Children may also be affected by family court proceedings – for example regarding child access arrangements. These can create conflict in families and be stressful for the child.

If you’re worried about a child, speak to your DSL (deputy DSL) and follow the school’s procedures for reporting safeguarding concerns.
