Post-16

Welcome

Post 16 staff are trained to a high standard in order to deliver the qualifications designed to help all students reach employability and independence.

We offer a range of academic and vocational qualifications and have high expectations of all our students and value and celebrate all their academic achievements. We aim to widen our student’s employability skills and employment opportunities by teaching a full and comprehensive curriculum. This includes P4A skills, like “managing personal finance” and “staying safe”. The Employability lessons teach interview skills, alongside conduct at work, thus helping to secure a work placement or future employment.

We were praised for our broad and balanced curriculum, including a wider curriculum with the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver awards. The travel training programme offers the provision and engagement in extra-curricular activities and is a real strength of the school, giving students a wide range of opportunities to develop their skills and talents outside of the classroom.

Our option lessons cover our vocational content within the curriculum. The options available are, Hospitality with a Level 2 food hygiene certificate. Added to our qualifications this year we offer, Floristry, Construction, Health & Social Care and Childcare. We have appointed a fully trained bricklayer to teach the students all the skills required to work within the construction industry.

The students learning and development is our most important goal, providing an education that will give them the best possible opportunities to fulfil their goals and gain independence.

We welcome all parents/carers to come and view our provision, in order to gain a feel for the secure and safe environment for all are students.
