Life Ready Pathway 3

Overview

This is a 3-year programme of study for students wishing to move from Maplewell to a mainstream college at Entry 3 or Level 1, or an alternative provision.

This pathway is put in place for students who benefit from smaller classes with extra support.

Intent

This pathway is designed for students who may be reliant on support and face communication difficulties.

They are unable to self-manage anxieties and have narrow interests and experiences.

Implementation

The Life Ready pathway is designed for the needs of smaller groups. Through the use of life skills, students experience real life tasks associated with their independent living lessons, they will prepare meals, understanding the needs of a balanced diet. East Gate Lodge facility at our Woodhouse Eaves site will be used to practice skills required to help them live independently.

Option subjects will give the students an opportunity to experience qualifications which they may develop further over the three years. Travel training will be their vocational route.

As part of the pathway, we embed therapeutic interventions and enrichment activities into their learning. English and maths lessons will be delivered by subject specialist teachers.

Impact

After the 3 year pathway, students should have developed skills in independence, and be able to be more confident in a college placement after leaving Post 16.

They will have achieved qualifications and awards to support their chosen next steps.

Next step

Students who follow the Life Ready pathway will move to a College where they will progress to an Entry 3 or Level 1 course in independent living, vocational based qualifications to gain access to a work placement.
