Revisions by the Department for Education to the 2006 Education (Pupil registration) Regulations state that from the 1st September 2013, a Headteacher/Principal can no longer authorise any holidays during term time.
The amendments make clear that a Headteacher/Principal may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Headteachers/Principals should determine the number of school days a child can be away from school if the leave is granted.
